Christine "Chris" L. (Witmer) Mellinger of Red Lion, entered into rest on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 5:40 am at her residence at the age of 61. She was the loving wife of Terry W. Mellinger, Sr., to whom she married on November 15, 1974, celebrating 43 years together.

She was born on September 9, 1956 and was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary R. (Eckert) Witmer. Chris worked at the former New York Wire as a slitter for 34 years. She was a graduate of the Red Lion High School Class of 1974. She enjoyed reading and taking care of others.

Besides her husband, Terry, she leaves her daughter, Tracy A. Knife and her husband David of Red Lion and her son, Terry W. Mellinger, Jr. and his companion Amelia Dawson of Red Lion. She was the grandmother to her five grandchildren, Tai Beck, Tempest Mellinger, Alexis Mellinger, Delaini Knife and Micah Knife. She has five siblings, Lloyd Witmer, Jr. of Springvale, Jean Stokes of Wrightsville, Darlene Belnap of OH , Bill Witmer of Wrightsville and Nancy Shaw of Felton, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by three siblings, Donald Witmer, Patsy Witmer and Diane Witmer.

Viewing for Chris will be on Thursday, Nov. 16th from 6-7 pm at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service to Honor and Praise Chris will begin at 7 pm at the funeral home with Rev. David D. Tietje, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, officiating.

Chris was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Terry and his children would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff and Dr.'s of the Select Specialty Hospital- York, for all the care given to Chris and the compassion shown to them during her stay with them. It is truly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
