Dixie Lee (Smith) Moore of York went home to be with her Lord and Savior after battling a lengthy illness on Sat., September 10, 2016 at York Hospital at the age of 74.

Dixie was born on October 16, 1941 in Bittersville, and was the daughter of the late Woodrow W. and Corena E. (Brown) Smith.

She worked at Leader Heights Nursing Home as a nursing assistant, retiring in 1997.

Dixie is survived by 3 sons, Wade A. Moore of Coudersport, Cory A. Moore of York, Duane A. Moore and wife, Robin of Red Lion; 1 grandchild, Tyler Moore of York; 1 brother, Gary "Sarge" Smith his wife Judy of Palmetto, FL; and 3 nephews, Kevin, Keith and Steven Smith, all of Palmetto, FL.

There will be a viewing on Wednesday, Sept. 14th from 10- 11 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion; followed by a Graveside Service of Honor and Praise for Dixie at 12pm on Wed. at Salem Community Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth R. Gibson of Pleasant View Brethren In Christ Church officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be offered to: American Cancer Society, 924-N Colonial Ave. York, PA 17403.

Dixie was a wonderful mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her grandson, whom was her pride and joy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
