Love Emblem

Joanne Amanda (Posey) Jones of Lancaster, departed this life on Friday April 27, 2018 at 12:30 am at Mennonite Home at the age of 89. She was the wife of the late Robert A. Jones who entered into rest on May 29, 2017 with whom she shared 70 years of marriage.

She was born on December 22, 1928 in Lower Chanceford Township and was the daughter of the late David R. and Clara E. (Taylor) Posey. Joanne and Bob were longtime residents of Stewartstown, where she worked for Dellinger Texaco Oil Company as a bookkeeper. She graduated from Lower Chanceford High School and attended Elizabethtown College. Joanne was a past member of Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Fawn Grove and a current member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lancaster.

Joanne is survived by a brother, Rev. Harold E. Posey and his wife, Joan, of Mount Holly Springs and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jesse, Robert, Carroll, and Bruce and her sisters, Laura Emma and Mary Posey Grove.

Viewing will be on Saturday, May 5th from 9 to 10 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion. A Service of Honor and Praise for Joanne will begin at 10 am at the funeral home with her brother, Rev. Harold Posey officiating, and assisted by Rev. Keith Irvine, Associate pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow at Chanceford Presbyterian Cemetery in Airville.

Joanne was a very loving and caring person. Though she and Robert did not have children of their own, she loved and adored each of her nieces and nephews who had a very special place in her heart. Your Legacy of Love burns brightly in our hearts as we remember you, until we meet again.
